But I would really like black paint, especially since the top and bottom plate are machined brass. I think I will spring for the $150 accessary grip and paint it in black. That will require stripping the finish down to the brass, but I have done this before. The bottom plate will be easy to strip and paint because it is a simple surface. If this works, on to the top plate!

Black, due to two reasons: 1) it is more discrete; 2) most lenses are black, and only a few lenses are "silver".
I like "silver" finish and the retro look, but those two reasons are enough for me.

Black, (except when the black chrome finish is of low quality), reasons same as ruben. Don't want to be recognised as a rich retiree is another reason.

I'm holding out for the Hermes limited editions in digitized iguana skin at $17,995.00 (US) ... $4995 for a typical M8 body in either black or silver seems, to me anyway, just sooooooooo pedestrian.

I haven't ordered it yet but I think I will prefer the silver chromed version because I think that it makes the thicker M8 body look a bit more slim.
