Not sure if this is an appropriate forum in which to post this question.
I have just installed Aperture and imported SEVERAL folders and several thousand files from my drive - referencing them in their previous location (Yes it took a while!) Some of my files have the original names assigned by my cameras (eg "L1001684.DNG" and so on). I'd like to rename these to sumething more meaningful (like "20080618 - 001 - Coconut Lagoon Resort.DNG" etc). This is a fairly straightforward procedure in Lightroom. But there does not seem to be a way to rename the original files in Aperture. Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

From the menu bar;
"Metadata" heading, select "Batch Change ..." Select the Version Name Format popup for a choice of different ways of renaming. You can always customise by selecting the edit at the bottom of the menu. Do one project at a time. Give Aperture some time in between renaming especially if you change your mind after renaming. I ran into some problems doing changes too quickly and had to rebuild the database. But maybe it was because the folder had a lot of files. Hope that helps. |
