Default 50mm summicron R & Canon 10D

Hi all,

Just got a mint 50mm Summicron R lens & and 10D Canon Digital.

Very happy with the results. Lens is sharp and like the color. Now will look out for the 90mm or 100mm leica lens. Anyone has suggestion which model to get.

I guessed my Nikkors 24mm and 50mm will rest for awhile.

Also got the new Pana LX-2 a week ago. Color is Leica like and sharp but performance at nite is not so good. Recommend to underexpose for -1/2 stops

Cheers

The 90mm F/2.0 is a great lens, so is of course the 35mm f/2.0.

The 100mm is great and sharp but I think you will find the 90mm better suited for all-round purposes and portraits (as the 100mm is so sharp few people would like to be portrayed by it).

The 50mm you got so far is reputed to be one of the best 50mm in the world and is truly grat. Would like to see tome of the results you got from it on the Canon.

You can see some 90mm samples here thought I haven't updated them for a while: leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica 90mm Summicron-R f2.0 lens test sample photos

Default 50mm summicron R & Canon 10D

Hi there,

Thanks. Loved your site ! Amazing shots.

What would be a fair price to pay for a used mint 90mm f/2 summi.

There is a good sample of the 100mm APO but is very expensive abt U$1500 used.

I will post some pics once I get a proper card reader. Unable to download with card reader given to me. I did not check as was to anxious on the lens Its my first Leica.

Btw, how reliable is the R8 ? I love the ergonomics of this body and like slides too.

Brgds

The R8 (and R9) are quite reliable. Only thing can be the electronics when a winder or motor is attached which in some instances has resulted in camera lock which when meant the camera had to go to Leica to get new electronics (courtesy fix as far as I recall).

I think the 90mm f/2.0 could go as low as 500$, perhaps even less, it's not considered any special price item and I think there is plenty of them. Simply a matter of looking for it in enough places till one finds one at the right price and which is looking good.

Default 50mm summicron R & Canon 10D

I am starting to look for 90mm summicron and also 35mm !

Went for some snaps today but noticed that my pics are 1-2 stops underexposed !! Do you know why its like this. I am using aperture priority shooting at f/2-4 most of time. Iso from 100-400 (indoors). Is it because the 10D's metering works only in centre weighted or spot ?

Other than this, I am loving the sharpness and leica color.

Grateful yr advise. Tried to upload picture but it says file too big. I am shooting large jpeg, shud I change to small/medium in order to paste in this site ? Sorry, am totally pc nerd
