Just a quick question because I'm not sure of the answer---with the DMR, can you do a pre-set WB-reading off a white-card, when working with strobes? The instruction manual states you should only use "flash" or "auto" WB when working with flash. I recently got a flexible white card and am wondering now if it will only be useful in ambient light situations.
Thank you to the brain-trust, Troy

I shoot RAW, so I can adjust WB in post, too, if I need to, but getting it right in the camera is important to me as well. I have no idea why the manual would say this, except maybe that flashes can vary a lot...

Interestingly enough, I have no problem yesterday, manually WB-ing my DMR off a grey card, but could not do it off the white card. Problem solve though--stick to the grey card.

Troy:
If you are white balancing off a white card, you need to under expose it so that it is not pure white. The DMR will give an error if the area the WB spot is on is too light. Robert |
