The D-LUX 3 looks very appealing.

To note the specs on the D-LUX3 are different than the Pana LX2. The DL3 ISO range starts from 80 and follows 100 200 400 800 1600. The LX2 range is from 100 200 400 800 1600 with a 3200 boost setting.

The Leica DL3 has a more usable ISO range it would appear.

Now hopefully they have fixed the problem of being able to turn off the LCD without shutting down the camera. The confusing manual operation were the Joystick controls to many settings. The ability to have the LCD give a live view instead of always have the screen gained up or down from the actually exposure. Lastly a setting for the focus assist window being user activated by a half press of the shutter button to check fine focus instead of having to move the joystick in manual operation.

actually with the way things are going, I think that Panasonic needs to buy up Olympus and Leica get expanding on their consumer operations.

With yesterday's lackluster announcement of the E-400 there are rumors that Panasonic may indeed be buying them out. Olympus is in trouble.

That would be a positive change from Leica simply altering the Low, Med, High settings for contrast, sharpness, etc.

Hi Sean, I'd be very interested in seeing your review of the dlux3. One question though... is really only 100-400iso unlike the lx-2 which is 100-16600iso? As far as I can tell the dlux2 was pretty much identical in output to the lx-1, so is leica bringing more to the table with the latest iteration?

That said, the M8 looks and sounds the real article. I reckon it will take me a year or so to save for one.... but I'll get there ;-)

The LX2 is 100 to 1600 plus 3200 in boost mode. The D-Lux 3 is 80 to 1600.
