albertwang Posted September 14, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) The D-lux 3 looks absolutely sexy... completely in black paint. I nearly mistaken it for a leica special edition. M8 and D-lux 3 are the best looking cameras of the batch.
Advertisement Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Hi albertwang, Take a look here D-lux 3 is Black Paint bEauty!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chuck3819 Posted September 14, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2006 where did you see the d-lux 3? are there any photos of it on the web? hopefully leica will improve their version of this camera and make it possible to turn noise reduction off. this seems to be the biggest complaint about the panasonic lx-2. can't wait to see it though! albertwang Posted September 14, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted September 14, 2006 actually with the way things are going, I think that Panasonic needs to buy up Olympus and Leica get expanding on their consumer operations.
Rower Posted September 14, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am really exited - I just hope they can deliver in time. gepetto Posted September 14, 2006 Share #9 Posted September 14, 2006 The D-LUX 3 looks very appealing. To note the specs on the D-LUX3 are different than the Pana LX2. The DL3 ISO range starts from 80 and follows 100 200 400 800 1600. The LX2 range is from 100 200 400 800 1600 with a 3200 boost setting. The Leica DL3 has a more usable ISO range it would appear. Now hopefully they have fixed the problem of being able to turn off the LCD without shutting down the camera. The confusing manual operation were the Joystick controls to many settings. The ability to have the LCD give a live view instead of always have the screen gained up or down from the actually exposure. Lastly a setting for the focus assist window being user activated by a half press of the shutter button to check fine focus instead of having to move the joystick in manual operation. J Mitchum Posted September 14, 2006 Share #10 Posted September 14, 2006 actually with the way things are going, I think that Panasonic needs to buy up Olympus and Leica get expanding on their consumer operations. With yesterday's lackluster announcement of the E-400 there are rumors that Panasonic may indeed be buying them out. Olympus is in trouble. That would be a positive change from Leica simply altering the Low, Med, High settings for contrast, sharpness, etc.
albertwang Posted September 14, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted September 14, 2006 Smart move. Panasonic buying out Olympus would be similar to Sony buying out Minolta... good parallel business tactic.
mhoutman Posted September 14, 2006 Share #13 Posted September 14, 2006 Not a single bit of silver on the D-lux 3!!! not really: see the back wheel... it is in silver really.......and some buttons too ;-)
J Mitchum Posted September 14, 2006 Share #14 Posted September 14, 2006 not really: see the back wheel... it is in silver really.......and some buttons too ;-) There is also a silver version of the D-Lux 3 available. Yeah, that silver wheel on the back looks odd.
etanguero Posted September 14, 2006 Share #15 Posted September 14, 2006 only that pana buying oly would mean the 4/3 is not really an inter-manufacturer system anymore. eT
sean_reid Posted September 14, 2006 Share #16 Posted September 14, 2006 I've got full views of all three cameras (other than the M8 which I've already posted). I can publish them on a free part of my site. Is that needed or are they out there already? Cheers, Sean
J Mitchum Posted September 14, 2006 Share #17 Posted September 14, 2006 Haven't seen many good photos of these cameras yet. If you can please do.
andy_mclean Posted September 15, 2006 Share #18 Posted September 15, 2006 Hi Sean, I'd be very interested in seeing your review of the dlux3. One question though... is really only 100-400iso unlike the lx-2 which is 100-16600iso? As far as I can tell the dlux2 was pretty much identical in output to the lx-1, so is leica bringing more to the table with the latest iteration? That said, the M8 looks and sounds the real article. I reckon it will take me a year or so to save for one.... but I'll get there ;-) Andy
