(Other than buying far too much from them I have no other connection!). They can't split the R8/DMR because they have no back for the camera!!! Price is just under £2k. Hope it finds a good home.
I bought that one last august (DMR plus R8) for GBP 1695.

Rotes Gesicht Re: Leica DMR

I have just ordered my second DMR over the phone, unseen from a Leica dealer. Based on the described "Like new" condition, boxed etc.. I have paid £2500. I have an approval period, so if the condition doesn't match the price paid I will return it. I have had a casual look for a second / backup DMR for the past 9 months. I did handle one last December, but the condition didn't do it for me and the asking price was about £1800. I have probably missed some real bargains with R8 / 9 bodies included, but now that the expected Leica digital solution is not to be (for now anyway), DMR prices do indeed appear to have increased.

I wait in anticipation for the post tomorrow.

regards

Mark

The DMR is still state of the art and I consider getting a backup. Just did this tonight at Roskilde Festival, R8/DMR 35-70/2.8 @ 200 ISO

You should see the Nikon and Canon shots from the same. Looke like Xerox copies (in color tough ;-)

Hi Thorsten,

Lovely work, as always. I was on a family holiday in Roskilde in 1980. Denmark is a beautiful country.

The DMR arrived and it is exactly as described. I am one very happy chappy. I only phoned the dealer to buy an all matt DMR focus screen which is now unavailable.

Actually, it is not very heavy. It is more like large. But the ergonomics are so good, the best I ever saw -felt on any camera, that it becomes an extension of your hand.

It's so "light" you actually feel the difference between R8 and R9 (which is 100 gram). I think if the camera was heavy, you wouldn't notice a 100 g difference.

Looking at those pictures of the R8/DMR and R9/DMR I get an urge to get one more DMR...

It is all relative to what you are used to. I was used to a Canon 1D, so the DMR, was actually smaller and lighter If you are coming from a prosumer Canon or Nikon, the DMR is heavy in comparison.

It's delightful to read this chatter about my favorite camera. Thorsten, that wedding shot is quite beautiful. I wish you & Rob would post more of your work, even if it's just "work". It's a pleasure to enjoy & educational for me. I always like to stay referenced with other images from the DMR that can further my skills.

Thanks. I never post pictures in the gallery here, mostly because I don't feel like it. No particular reason.

But you are welcome to join my weekly newsletter with pictures and stuff. Just e-mail me or enter your mail in the top of the page of my website.

Here's by the way a story from last week that will keep you busy for a few minutes as there's an accompanying slideshow to it ;-)

Wonderful shots, Thorsten. Hard to believe that they are coming from a digital sensor, skin colours are so natural. I don't know how an EOS 30D sensor compares to DMR, but I know I could never achieve these colours and the vibrancy when I had it. Excellent.
