JeTexas Posted April 23, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 23, 2014 Looks very closely related to the Samsung NX300 to me.
timd. Posted April 23, 2014 Share #11 Posted April 23, 2014 Looks very closely related to the Samsung NX300 to me. Except for Styling, technical specs, lens mount and other minor issues: yes.
JeTexas Posted April 23, 2014 Share #12 Posted April 23, 2014 You don't think the styling is the same? Yes the T has an extra dial and no skin, but it looks similar to me. Even the strange shaped flash.

Even the strange shaped flash.[/quote'] Extra Dial, no Skin, Full touchscreen Interface instead of buttons, quite different shape of integrated grip, screen not tiltable. Yes, the Flash may look similar. But i feel the Leica T looks as much Samsung-like as it's NEX-like. It's a compact camera with interchangeable lenses and no integrated viewfinder. How much difference can any Designer do without compromising the Ergonomics?
40mm f/2 Posted April 23, 2014 Share #14 Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) I really like the hand strap design but otherwise not really excited. One has to choose between flash or viewfinder ("visoflex"). Also a red dot on a yellow camera - here is a real reason to ask for black dots. reddawn Posted April 24, 2014 Share #15 Posted April 24, 2014 Hi Interesting reference to Samsung above.... I was once told by someone working in that industry that the Leica X cameras are actually produced by Samsung for Leica, with the exception of the top and bottom plates. This could explain that availiabiity of the X series compared to the scarcity of M240s when announced. Not sure if the source is correct though - the X series certainly has no Panny equivalent....... I would like to see a review of someone shooting the T with winter gloves on.... To gauge the usability of that touch screen...
barjohn Posted April 24, 2014 Share #16 Posted April 24, 2014 There is some talk about it using M43 lenses. If that is true, maybe it would operate in a copped 10mp mode with these lenses...ugh!
Archiver Posted April 24, 2014 Share #17 Posted April 24, 2014 HiI was once told by someone working in that industry that the Leica X cameras are actually produced by Samsung for Leica, with the exception of the top and bottom plates. I would like to see a review of someone shooting the T with winter gloves on.... To gauge the usability of that touch screen... While this Samsung reference is new to me, barjohn found several references to Panasonic in the X Vario image metadata. It certainly points to Panasonic involvement with the X Vario. They may not have made the X Vario, but they definitely had something to do with the AF system. Given the that touchscreen is most likely capacitative, the T would be like any smartphone or tablet when wearing gloves. My guess is that the functions of the dials remain after being selected, so as long as the dials are on your commonly used functions, it should be fine. AlanG Posted April 24, 2014 Share #18 Posted April 24, 2014 Hi I would like to see a review of someone shooting the T with winter gloves on.... To gauge the usability of that touch screen... Leica will sell you special Hermes gloves with compatible finger tips for $300.
LucisPictor Posted April 24, 2014 Share #19 Posted April 24, 2014 Looks very closely related to the Samsung NX300 to me. I agree. The first thing I thought when I saw the raw body of the "T" was: "Hey, looks like a Samsung". But, as usually, it's always in the eye of the beholder. And why on Earth, does that cam not have an internal viewfinder??
stevesurf Posted April 24, 2014 Share #20 Posted April 24, 2014 The first thing that I thought of, when I saw this system is that a whole new generation will be introduced to this wonderful company's products. The design of camera, swivel strap, T Snap, T Flap, wrap-around rear with touchscreen LCD, control dials with rear access is some of the most unique, cool and useful items! Most of us on this forum seem to want a mini "M", but I believe "T" is for both a new and existing generation of Leica users and fans. I can see the real ease of use and function of the accessories. Also, I believe most will use the T's LCD and not a VF Exciting design!
