Default ColorVision PrintFIX PRO

Has anyone used this software for printing? Any pros/cons? I'm especially interested in results with the M8 and the Epson 2200 printer.

Funny you should ask. I have a Digilux 3, Lightroom v1.1 and an Epson R2400. Forums are replete with issues about color problems with Lightroom and R2400 (dark prints). I had the same issues. I worked thru most of the issues (I won't go into them here). I thought I had arrived at a solution that would generate pictures that were close to what appeared on the screen. Not one to be satisfied, I took the plunge and purchased PrintFix Pro on Tuesday. It arrived from B&H this afternoon. Of course, I immediately loaded the software on my Mac (Intel) Desktop. Downloaded the 2.1 upgrade from Colorvision (free). Created the printer profile for my calibrated monitor for Epson Premium Glossy. Selected four photos in Lightroom that I have tested before. Printed each. Not sure what hurts more. My chin as it hit the desk or my back when I fell out of the chair. The "difference" was astounding.

So that's it. I turned everything off and basked in the thought of a task finally accomplished. I know I have to create profiles for Epson Matte (etc.) and the Red River sample pack that's arriving tomorrow. BUT, if everything goes as smoothly as today with the same results, I'll be one happy puppy.

I have the first version of the Printfix. The first "scanner" that came with it broke after 3 scans. I called them and they sent another of these crappy scanners. With this one,it was almost impossible to get the test print to go through the scanner properly. After much trial and tribulation, the profiles I got were not nearly as good as those provided by manufacturers. When they introduced the new setup they offered a nominal discount to owners of the old stuff. I did not bite. The stuff sits in a drawer. I would never buy another piece of their equipment.
