onceuponatime Posted August 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I wonder if there will be such. If so replacing the main command dial with shutter dial. http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/gx7-announced-along-a-noctocron-425mm-f1-2-lens/ Nocticron f1.2 42.5mm (85mm equiv) will be a fine companion as will the existing Lux f1.4 25mm (50mm equiv). (Now if Panasonic also brought out a 12mm /14mm PanaLeica & 75mm PanaLeica). Edited August 1, 2013 by onceuponatime
Advertisement Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Hi onceuponatime, Take a look here Red dot version of Panasonic GX7 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted August 1, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 1, 2013 Leica has said many times they aren't interested in further involvement with 4/3rds or m4/3rds (they got burned on the Digilux 3). They will continue to develop - in-house - the APS-C "X" system for their intermediate-sized-sensor needs, and depend on Panasonic only for small-sensor P&S cameras. stevelap Posted August 1, 2013 Share #3 Posted August 1, 2013 I agree with Andy, highly unlikely I suspect. Leica's involvement with 4/3rds seems limited to design input for Panasonic lenses.
dickgrafixstop Posted August 9, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 9, 2013 The GX7 teamed with the 25mm f1.4 and the 14-50 zoom may be a great replacement for the digilux 3 that's a tad long in the technological tooth.
lct Posted August 9, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 9, 2013 +1 even with good Pana lenses like 20/1.7 and 12-35/2.8.
stevelap Posted August 9, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 9, 2013 The GX7 certainly looks interesting and boasts a very good spec sheet, but unless Leica have a change of heart (entirely possible I suppose) I can't see it wearing a red dot. Paul Reading Posted September 11, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Digilux 3 was just to ahead of time and the 4/3rds mount lost out to M4/3rds. I think it is a shame that Leica will not join this group, I now why they have opted for the APS-C sensor but I suspect that in time as sensors improve the m4/3rds will provide quality that is good enough for all our needs further more the smaller sensor allows for a come compact camera design which is highly desirable. You can see that the GX7 is a bit like turning the time back, its tactile like the Digilux 2 and the modus operandi is very similar to the Digilux 2. it is a very intuitive camera. On paper the Fuji X-E1 has better specifications but I think this camera will be more enjoyable to use. How long will it be before Olympus, Canon and Nikon bring out interchangeable retro looking cameras with viewfinders... not so long I think. I think the ball is rolling and all the manufacturers are looking at Fuji's success. People who buy this camera are not doing it as an alternative to an M, and if Leica was to get a join M4/3rds and market a re-badged version of this camera I don't think it would hurt M sales at all. The risk to Leica is long term buying an M will have no added value in terms of picture quality, that is not the case today but I believe that the gap is closing. So are Leica worried I don't think so, I believe that most people who buy Leica (not those on here) do so because of the image and status. Does an Hermes handbag make women's make up lighter or esker to carry, no but women still buy their bags.
CaptZoom Posted September 11, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 11, 2013 Isn't Leica still part of the 4/3 & m4/3 (really only m4/3 since no new 4/3 bodies are on the horizon) consortium, in that they continue to support and develop lenses for the system?* *I know Leica isn't developing or branding/licensing bodies m4/3 bodies. earleygallery Posted October 20, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 20, 2013 Leica have been quite firm in their statements that they aren't interested in M4/3rds. Panasonic are releasing Leica branded lenses for that format but that's another matter entirely.
250swb Posted October 21, 2013 Share #12 Posted October 21, 2013 For Panasonic to be releasing ever increasing numbers of Leica branded lenses it seems as if Leica have their corporate head in the sand not to release a body to go alongside them, especially as there is already a digital 'rangefinder' style body ready and waiting to have an expensive red dot stuck on it. Don't forget, Leica said they aren't interested (then) in m43, not that they couldn't get interested. And with the rapid advances in sensor technology alongside peripheral technologies of world leading image stabilisation and EVF performance the time has never been better. 250swb Posted October 21, 2013 Share #15 Posted October 21, 2013 ... never been better to earn or to lose money? How much to stick a red dot on a body and do some marketing, not that much, it's not like they are developing a brand new camera is it? They only need to buy from Panasonic as many as they can sell. onceuponatime Posted October 21, 2013 Author Share #17 Posted October 21, 2013 I did. Where does it say that it will be a M4/3 camera? Panasonic dont make Apsc nor FF mirrorless interchangeable.
earleygallery Posted October 21, 2013 Share #18 Posted October 21, 2013 Panasonic dont make Apsc nor FF mirrorless interchangeable. Not yet........ I suspect however, if anything is released, that it will be another PanaLeica compact P&S. The link doesn't mention interchangeable lenses either, and it is just a rumours site.
