I have seen on this forum somewhere - I have tried to search for it without success - that Sandisk cards may not be the most suitable. Could anyone kindly give me the benefit of their experience so that I can buy the right one ? Would you advise a 2gb card ?

If your Sandisk isn't bogus it should be ok, just more expensive. Many recommend both Ridata and Transcend as well-priced.
I shoot the Ridata and another guy shoots the Transcend. If you do a search on the web, you should find very nice prices.

I use Sandisk 1 Gb ultra 2 in my D2 since new, also in LX 1 and FZ 8 with no problems, the first cost $A 175, the last two a couple of months ago $A 35, all genuine.

I use Sandisk Extreme III both 1GB and 2GB on my D2.
There was an earlier thread where ADATA cards (i recall ??) were physically thicker, and required some uncomfortable pushing and pulling of the SD card into a D2 Just remember these new ultra fast 133x or 150x etc SD cards will not provide any write/read benefits in a D2 above a 40x card. It still takes 5 secs to write a RAW. However they do allow you to get the 1GB or 2GB of photos off the card a lot quicker to a portable digital wallet (ie I use a couple Vosonic storage devices), when in the field or travelling. Thereby reducing your shooting downtime when required. |

Anthony - I have been using Sandisk Extreme III cards continuously with no problems in the D2 and DL2. I find from shutter press to end of write about 4 secs on my D2.
As Bill says just make sure they are genuine ones. I would rather pay full price from a reliable source than risk E-Bay. I have just ordered 2Gb Sandisk Extreme III for £16.99 (includes postage) from Play.com. Their 1Gb are £7.99 |

San Disk Ultra II - 1 GB (X4) . . . they split and fold in half exposing the (male) USB connector.
These are fantastic for travel . . . we don't need a card reader or portable drive - - - just find an Internet cafe with machines that have USB ports, and upload directly to my (25GB) Snapdrive account, where it's safe and backed up. Less is more. ~jk |

I use Kingston 2GB for my D2. Buy a couple of them and perhaps a SD/USB stick that you can use to load pictures into the computer with. All of it very economical.
The D2 does not require the highest possible writing speed mut a medium speed like Kensington or any other brand almost. |

I just purchased two Transcend 150X cards from forum sponsor Adorama
Transcend 2 GB, 150x Ultra High-Speed Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card I have had fine results with these cards in both the Digilux 2 and LC1. Fastest and biggest card to work in the Digilux 2. Cards over 2gb, SDHC or not, are not supported. And although the Digilux 2 cannot write fast enough to utilize the 150X rating, it dosn't hurt, and the cards are very inexpensive. |
