Hi folks,
I remember some days ago there was a post in the forum saying that there is a magnifier which suits the R8/R9 and some members here have used it and found it works well with the DMR crop area. But sorry I can't find the post or anything related anymore. Would anyone please advise where can I find the information of this magnifier, or please post the link of the manufactuer again? Thank you very much! |

I had the first prototype of this, along with Guy Mancuso. We fed our impressions back to Jim at Brightscreen; the production finders have been redesigned accordingly. These make a HUGE difference to focussing the R8/9 + DMR. Jim is a small company, is a fanatic about QC, and will not let anything out that unless he is 110% satisfied. IMHO, worth the wait. hth, kl

Kit,
Would you please advise what does it look like thru this magnifier with the DMR installed? Will the crop area be magnified so it becomes a full screen thru the view finder? |

Hello Guy,
Our new re-designed parts are now complete and we shipped you the very first new Leica Eyepiece Magnifier late today via overnight FedEx . Will create some new images for the web site soon. Your tracking number is 7900xxxxxxxxx www.fedex.com <http://www.fedex.com> We will be assembling these all this week, over the weekend and most of next week, shipping as we go, on a first come, first served basis. The first runs are for Leica R series (fits the R4/5/6/7/8/9) and our parts for the Canon, Fuji and Nikon cameras are still in final production. These should also start shipping very soon. Please let me know how you like this new final design at your earliest convenience. The web site page created for order status is being kept current daily at: http://www.brightscreen.com/orderstatus.html

Mine just arrived and all the design changes make this perfect now. Excellent job Jim . Now you can adjust the diopter without taking it off and it centers perfect . I have a PR shoot today so give it a whirl but looks awesome. I can see the whole frame including the display on the bottom

I received mine in the mail on Friday. Like Guy has mentioned, this indeed works very well. If you like shooting wide open with the luxes, this is a great DMR accessory.

can you describe this a a bit more -- i just can't understand how the viewfinder is magnified but everything is still there (outside the crop, the info on the bottom, etc) something has to be differnt when looking thru the viewfinder?
i do have trouble focusing in certain conditions and bleive that digital is a bit more sensitive to focusing so i really am interested in learning what this does thanks Rich |

Mine, ordered during the discount period, arrived this morning by FedEx - in the most ginormous box!. Fitting is a doddle with the supplied Allen key and the increase in ease of fucussing is very noticeable.

I received mine yesterday and as others have noted it is nicely made and fitting is not a real problem - just a few moments with the small wrench and you all set.
However, just a caution to some. Due to my eysight, I have always had the diopter adjustment at maximum negative on my camera. This works fine and I have a sharp viewfinder without my glasses. When I installed the magnifier there was not sufficient adjustment left to bring the field into correct sharpness. Apparently you need to have a range of adjustment remaining on the built-in diopter to insure correct sharpness and there is none left if you are at the camera's built in limits. (May also affect the + side as well?) So mine will be going back. Quite dissappointed but not angry at Brightscreen, it is perhaps something that they cannot fix given that you are adding a second set of optics on top of the built-in diopter. I will be calling tommorow to see if this is a recognized problem or perhaps somehow unique to the one I received - though from the simplicity of construction I can't imagine how it could be out of adjustment. |
