Default Re: Are monopods worthwhile?

I agree the monopod is definitly worthwhile to have. I personally use the giotto monopod and its very lightweight and fits easily in my bag..

Appreciate your experiences with this issue. Thanks.

Most places that don't allow a tripod won't also allow a monopod. Museums etc. Many people get away with a mini pocket tripod. Easy to smuggle in a Museum.
A monopod is very handy on rangefinders especially when shooting sub 1/30th sec utilizing available light. Bogen Carbon fiber is very light. while the bogen standing monopod is a little heavy and only usefull on flat surfaces to make it stand by itself. I have both.

Monopods are very good for long lenses, and they would be a good night stick. I used one as a hiking staff and it did double duty to prod the llamas into action. DR
