it borrows from a lot of cameras:

the viewfinder's outermost edge is from the m9 titanium.
the grip is a blend of the xpan and olympus e-p1.
the viewfinder mode(?) lever looks like the self-timer from the rollei xf 35.
the sloping control deck basically comes from the olympus pen f.
the af mode switch is like a backwards version of the meter mode switch on the rolleiflex hy6.

it looks a bit odd and unbalanced with the viewfinder so close to the edge, but that should minimize the intrusion of lenses; these af lenses look wider than m-mount or contax g lenses.

could have been worse, could have been better!

i hope the autofocus is good enough that we can live without scale and zone focusing, which is probably going to be an afterthought to fuji's engineers. keep your fingers crossed.

i totally forgot about the leica mirrorless! it would be neat if leica made something like the x-pro1, only better.

1) fly-by-wire focusing tabs on the lenses to set "snap" focus distance, with focusing scales on the lenses. (i suppose it can have an af-on button on the back.)
2) aperture ring on the front end of the lens, rings and dials turn in the usual direction.
3) simple, straightforward user interface.

It is said with some regularity on those forums - perhaps their tongue-in-cheek detector sytem is more sophisticated probably built by Fuji, not by Leica

As a M9 shooter (amazing camera) I am curious if other M9ers have decided to purchase this camera, and if so what has tipped the balance in favor of this purchase. M8 and other shooters please jump in also.

I like cameras, from any brand, if there is something for me to like in them.
From end of 2010 and just before today Fuji was the only other main brand who offered cameras (X100, X10, X-P1) which were interesting aesthetically and functionally.
Now that there are other interesting cameras at hand and in the horizon it is a most interesting time (for those who can afford).

You can use a movile phone's camera for a profesional application, but that camera is not a tool designed for professional use. The same goes with the M9.

The change is how a camera is designed. For a professional tool you ask a professional. The D4 and 1DX are action cameras, and they have asked to the professionals. The 5D Mark III will be different because, even if many pros use it, most buyers will not be professionals. The market for that camera is different. The M9 follows the same logic, but in this case the proportion of professionals is for sure even lower. Leica will not place a butron here or there because a professional asks for it. This was the difference between Leica and Nikon during the Korean war, and you know the result.
