Default On Line Photo Gallery

I did a search to see if this has been discussed and didn't find much. I am using Adorama's on line gallery for large file sizes, and Zenfolio for anything under 10MB.

Is there a site as nice as Zenfolio that takes file sizes greater than 10MB? I have some massive Tiff's I'd like to put up.

Also, many of my M8 shots that I develop out of C1 or CS2 turn up to exceed 10MB (some are as large as 12.5). It would be great to have one place.

Any ideas?

Hi Savvas,

IMHO, anything posted on the web at over 1500 pixel resolution is a waste - unless you are using these places as your backup storage? Or are you putting them to share with friends so they can print? Also JPEG is better for web...

Anyway, I have a friend who uses .. I will look it up and let you know.

Yours

Ravi

guess no-one would be happy to wait for 10mb files to open on the web. if you have cs2, or lr, why not use the "save for web" function?

cheers,
günter

Do you really want people to download your original, highest quality files from the web?

People stealing 240k jpgs is one thing, but 10MB+ tiffs?

It would have to be a flash site to prevent the stealing of files if there would be full DNG's or Jpeg's accesible to the outside world.. But I agree, some kind of online gallery would be nice, even if only 500K files.

I use these sites for secure storage of my photos in password protected galleries for my family (which is scattered around the globe) to view/download/print.

For me, I need to upload the highest quality files.

The 10MB JPEGs are really good, but sometimes CS2 and C1Pro save the DNG as a JPEG that is greater than 10MB. I haven't found an online gallery hosting service that accepts over 10.

Why not just buy your own domain and some webspace and do it yourself?

If I can do it, I am sure you can

People have been linking five hundred, to I think nine sixty k files in photo forum here instead of posting below two forty. Got to wonder about some people shoving that much into a 960/by pixel image. Dreaming. And I tell you for someone without a city connection it has been getting really ordinary.

I would have said email the family your files but if anyone sent me a ten meg file I would be furious, and back on to my provider to axe the thing. Hope your family all has fast dsl connects. Best idea, like Andy said...get your own space. You could keep it brutally simple with just a file index. Cost you next to nix. Family could dl the files at night.

You must do some stunning work for people to need the large print files. Welcome to the forum, look forward to seeing some of your work.

Regards

There is yousendit for mailing large files. You are right to point out that not everybody has a fast connection. Being one of the culprits of linking to larger files, I might add that I do see a real difference beween a 240k and a 500k files, but not much beyond that.
