Arg! Was doing a model shoot today and dropped my 35 cron ASPH (which is 1 month old) on my concrete floor. Bent the aperture ring and now its stuck at F2.
So, will leica cover this under warranty? If so, do I just send it in and wait for it to return? Thanks |

Should be covered by the passport warranty. Isn't it great!

GREAT! Before the m8 my M7 had an issue and it was a 2 week turnaround. Does this lens have to go to Germany to be fixed or can NJ do the repair. 2 months? That is not good at all! I use this lens almost daily. BUT it was my fault!
BTW, I played it cool w/ the model but inside I was NOT happy. BTW, I posted pics of her (even some with the broken 35) in the people phoro forum. They are nudes. Here is one: |

Impact damage to the mechanism has to go to Solms.
first they will send you a letter asking permission to send it to Solms, then after you call them they will put it in the next regular shipment, then when Solms gets it they will send you an estimate and wait for permission to repair. I don't know what happens after that, I haven't received the estimate yet. (you can check the Solms repair status on the online system, mine says "estimate sent") Even if you send the lens with a letter authorizing all of that up front - they won't deviate from their process. |

If the lens is under passport warranty, ask Leica to restore it to like new condition. Leica will replace the necessary parts so that the lens would look like new. This is the the best feature of the passport warranty.

Steve,
I'd recommend you to call the CS @ Leica Solms and ask if you can ship the lens directly to them: Leica Camera AG - Service - Headquarters Germany. This may accelerate the process for you. If you're a pro, preferably ask for ms. Frankl. They're very nice, just a little bit busy right now because a lot of folks want 6-bit upgrades for their lenses. Best regards, Norbert |
