Default EV Shift

In Aperture Priority mode when I want to compensate using the EV settings nothing seems to hasppen on the info screen EV is shown as zero. I use the set button highlight EV alter the setting to lets say -1 stop, press set and nothing happens. I am doing something wrong?

Regards Kevin

What do you mean, «nothing happens»? If you press «set» again after altering the EV, you're supposed to be brought back to the Exposure Comp. function. The way to actually set the EV comp. is by pressing the shutter release slightly. Do you do that? Does the VF show the blinking lower red dot which indicates there is EV compensation of some sort?
