Default Has Leica forgotten about a software update for DMR

I wonder just how long we'll have to wait for a decent working software update for the DMR. Is one in the makes or are we just SOL on this one? And will there be a full-frame DMR replacement in the future or will they, instead, launch a stand-alone unit?

...and, if Leica proceeds with a stand-alone unit will persons that purchased R9+DMR be rewarded by Leica with haveing to purchase yet another whole camera? For them, economiclly, it makes a great deal of sense. A stand-alone unit has fewer issues and has greater ease of use and is cheaper to produce. But, for us, it comes down to being punished or disenfranchised for lending support.

Imacon is still in charge of the firmware. That's probably the reason.

Default AW: Has Leica forgotten about a software update for DMR

Leica and Imacon are working on the issue, Version 1.3 will be released before beginning of October this year (start of Photokina on Cologne, where the MD will be introduced)...

Nemo,
version 1.2 has an issue with the color presentation on the DMR (slight redshift)

Guy, it's been a while since I looked at the superthread on miranda. Are you still happy with your DMR? I haven't bitten yet - still loving my trannies.

Yes Rick still very happy with it. Some of the firmware issues need to be cleaned up and Leica needs to continue the R line with some glass . they really need to have some tilt and shift lenses. I had to buy a nikon system just for that type of work. Also they need to make a 135 F2 APO to fill some gap's in the lens line but as far as the images coming off the sensor still outstanding and better than I have seen from anyone else. if the M is like this people will be falling all over themselves to get one.

There have been reports of replacing the meter cells in the R9 and I may be a candidate also on one of my bodies. my metering is jumping around and it is very noticeable like 5 stops off.

Klaus thanks for the update on the firmware , i just have not heard anything about a time frame, good to hear.

BTW this new layout for the leica forum is awesome and it seems we get some of the folks from the German site also which is really great.

Default AW: Has Leica forgotten about a software update for DMR

Guy,

pleasure, I was at the Customer Service a few weeks ago and one of the engineers told me about the timeframe, so let's cross fingers...

regarding the forum:
in my opinion the best feature in the new software to have both the international and the German forum accessable in on step. Gone the times where you had to crawl through backdoors into the other world...

I am not aware about any other forum gathering such a broad and unique community under one roof. This is internet at its best!

Have a good WE - Klaus

agrred,
this is just taking to long, i consider firmware 1.2 to have software bugs . we are not simply waiting for an upgrade..there's a difference

There is one thing about this forum. Guy only has 10 posts. On the Miranda site he has over 14,000 posts.

Great to see you here Guy.
