Default (So far) I love this CAMputer, M8 that is...

Well,
I picked up my black M8 yesterday here in Toronto from my dealer (Thanks, Patrick!). I ordered the camera first week of December, together with extra battery. I got both yesterday. I am posting this together with some first test samples as I know there are many people as I was until yesterday waiting to see any new samples/stories/impressions about this CAMputer.
I took it out today on very cold (and sunny) streets of Leslieville (part of East side Toronto). The lens for all images was Zeiss 25mm. JPGs only, resized and sharpened in PS, auto WB...
Images are nothing special, but as being "the first from M8", they are here for all to see. I found camera easy to use (coming from Canon 1DsMKII and years of using xPan system). No issues so far, except a few dust spots visible at f11 on 25mm lens. CAMputer functioned properly in cold with no problems. More sample so follow....
Thanks to all pioneers who preordered M8 last year and did the battle with all issues and cleared the path for the rest of us. You know who you are.

Very nice pics Steve and congratulations on the new camera.

I agree with you, a big thank you to all the early adopters who documented meticulously their findings and paved the way for those of us that followed!

Cheers

congrads on your M8.

can i ask which dealer you got your M8 from? i also live in toronto, was on a waiting list since october. i got fed up waiting about a week ago and ordered my black M8 from photovillage in NYC (thanks to tipsters on the forum)

my M8 thankfully is so far working quite well, including shooting outdoors exposed to -20 toronto winter chills

by the way, i last spoke to my dealer a few days ago and was told there STILL isnt any sign of decent shippments of M8 to toronto....or much of canada for that matter.

....now i am patiently waiting for my free filters.......

Hey Andy,

My "man" works at little store (that could) called "Merkle Camera" ( 416 - 495 - 0456 )on Victoria Park and 401. He used to be my connection at Henry's downtown but he moved and I followed him there.
My reasoning was (after he assured me that Merkle IS an authorized dealer) to go to a small volume store. I had very bad experience with Vistek almost 3 years ago when ordering my 1DsMKII and I promissed my self never ever to buy major item in that store or any other "big player" in the city ( I got fed up with the usual "pecking order" on who is going to get new camera first , no matter when or how they ordered it...).
Now, after ordering my M8, I was given almost weekly update from Patrick about the estimated date; the last one being "end of February" - perfectly fine with me.
But, I got an "early" call last week when I was all the way up North in Wawa, Ontario on the shoot. I had to wait FOUR days to come back and get the camera on Saturday afternoon...
If there is anybody out there considering buying M8 in GTA, I would recomend my "connection". You won't be dissapointed. Just let Patrick know I sent you
