Reden M 8 & 50mm NOKTON For Delta II

Well I would like to thankk all of you who posted such nice comments on the Shuttle Roll-out images.
The image posting in this section is to prove to all that say that the M 8 stll has a way to go that they are wrong (no I donot work for Leica) even with a camer that has not yet been updated by Germany.
I said in my last posting that I purchased a 50mm Nokton (with the advice of Sean Reid, again thanks to him).
Early this morning in the cold cold lands in Florida (well cold for us at 40 degrees) I set out to photograph the rollout of the DELTA II Rocket with the Themis payload onboard. Thsi is scheduled to launch tonight at 6:08pm EDT.
I decided that the only way to shoot the rollout was to take the M 8 and the new out of the box 50mm f1.5 Nokton. The sharpness and contrast is great and I can now (and did the morning to a fellow M 8 shooter) recommend this lense.
I will try some shots this evening at f1.5 and post over the weekend.
The ISO was set to 320 white balance to Auto and f stop at about 4.
Hope this helps thoes who are trying to select a 50mm.
Also check out Sean Reid's draft on the 50's ...great reading.

Gary,
thanks for this, great photos!
My next lens is going to be a 50mm, I had read Sean's review/draft on the 50s, but this really helps. Nice sharp lens!

Gary have to ask when that thing shoots off , all those fixed lights will survive around the launch pad. I mean there pretty darn close to the action there. I'm sure all the trucks will be gone but i don't want to be closer than a 90mm when that sucker blast off. Camera sure give me a 15mm , me 1/2 mile away. LOL

Hello Guy
This is what it looks like from 1.8 miles away shot with a Canon 500F4 on an EOS 1DMark II. (I know that this is not leica related but just wanted to answer the question.

Also attached are two B&W images shot today of the crew for the Next Shuttle Launch on Atlantis that is scheduled for no earlier than 15 March 2007.

The lense was the 50mm Noktonf1.5 ISO 160, Daylight at Comp.set to -1/3.
I will try to use the lense overthe next two days in a dim light area and report back
Thanks
Gary

In keeping in line with the use of the 50mm Nokton F1.5 I shot this image of a friend of mine during the Delta II launch (yes it is a 1000 mirror lens that he is using) with the M 8 and the 50mm.
Shutter was 1/500 at ISO 160 Daylight f stop not recorded.
