Default JPEG among DNG/focusing with 90 mm

I had last week the opportunity to test a M8 (firmware 1.09), before taking an informed decision to buy... The experience is great and quite equivalent to those related in this forum: no need to say more, pros and cons are already well known.

But there is a “But” (In fact, at least 2):
- All the pictures were taken in DNG only, BUT in all series, some images appeared in JPEG (not visible on the LCD, of course) at very low resolution, 72 dpi !!! The phenomenon seems to be erratic but occurred quite a few times at different shooting sequences.
- Focusing with the Apo 2/90 appeared to be impossible a mission, for I am wearing progressive glasses perhaps, and most of the pictures were out of focus or not well focused as far as I remember what I focused on… Some others taken either with the Summilux Asph 1,4/50 or the 1,4/35 Asp were also out of focus (discrete move ?). I know that digital photography is very demanding in terms of focusing but I was not expecting such difficulties as far as I am an old M user (since 1979).

Would anybody comment on these topics? Thanks a lot.

Besides poor vision causing focus problems (you might want the 1.25x magnifier with diopter correction) camera shake and the possibility that the RF is out of cal and needs to be adjusted are all possible reasons. I get very sharp pictures with my M8 but the first thing I did was test infinity and focus using a tripod and test chart.

My opthalmologist says that my vision is 10/10 corrected...
Tests on tripod did not provide much clues. The mag. can be a solution.
Glad to know that your images are sharp ! Thanks for comments...
