Default Problems with M8, Metz 76 MZ-5 and SCA 3502-45

I Bought myself a biiig flash yesterday. The flash picks up the ISO nicely, but it doesn't pick up the aperture from the camera. What have i forgot?

The camera wont tell it the aperture, because it really doesn't know.this was supposed to be the job of the mythical blue dot, but no one has seen it work yet.

The rest of us using the Metz 54-MZ 4 are curious:

Can you set flash exposure compensation on the Metz 76 ??? (You can't with the 54 MZ) ..

With my M8 I am using a 54MZ4. I have just ordered the 3008A off-camera connector cable. However, I am expecting to continue to set the Metz to manual or auto and let it do its thing. I am not expecting the M8 to shut down the flash when it sees enough light (as the D2 does).

I will report back when I get the new thing.
