Hi everyone, just a quick question regarding the resulting camera sync speed when I attach my Metz mz44-2 flash with a sca3502 M4 adaptor. My Lc1 manual says that the camera sync speed changes automatically from 1/60 to 1/250. The Leica D2 manual does not mention the speed change at all. In my practical case I do not get a speed change. It remains at 1/60. Is it normal? Should I observe a speed change to 1/250? (would be nice)
Please let me know, since I get conflicting info from user manuals. Cheers, Gennady |

Gennady,
I've never seen my D2 select anything but 1/60 in flash auto mode. I have the same setup as you and have recently started letting the MZ think for it self setting it to 'A' mode. The switch on the foot is still set to GNC. I get better results this way and the camera handles 1/250 better than in GNC mode. The camera communicates with the flas also when the flash is in 'A' mode so you get the zoom head, iso, shutter etc from the camera. Best of all, this way you loose the pre-flash. - Carl |

Thanks Carl for your reply!
When you mention 1/250 speed, you are talking about forcing the camera into it? Also it´s funny that in the sca3502 manual there is conflicting info. On the one hand it says that if the adaptor is connected to the 3002 type flash, and 44mz-2 is one of them, swich positions on the adaptor are irrelevant. On the other hand in different place of the manual, it says that if you want GNC to be working the adaptor's GN switch has to be "on". Just in case I placed a switch to GN position and play both in TTL and Auto mode. I suspect that my LC1 manual mentions 1/250 speed change, because it seems that 54Mz-3 does force the speed change in camera. But, it's just a guess. Cheers, Gennady |

Metz makes great flashes, but they can't write documentation worth a d**n.
Most of what I've found I've either picked up here or by trial and error. And, yes - 1/250 has to be set using the shutter speed weel.- Carl |

with an attached flash the sync speed is 1/60 to 1/250th in Normal Mode
with Slow Sync its 1 to 1/250th set the speed manually the onboard flash will go to 1/2000th TTL (i think)
