Default Focusing 21mm ZM Biogon on M8

I noticed when shooting indoors with incandescent lighting at night, it is a real pain to focus the 21mm ZM. It seems like the hood of that lens is blocking something. Obviously, I can put the hood back on after I focus but that will really defeat the impromptu decisive-moment shots.

Are you guys facing this issue?

Furthermore, I also notice the legendary M6 VF flare on the M8 in this kind of situation. It adds to the frustration, I guess.

The hood on the ZM 21 partialy blocks the rangefinder window (the rf patch) at close focus. It only blocks the lower half of the patch, but it does make it very tricky to focus close. I pull the hood off if I know I'm going to be focusing close. So far it's the only thing I don't lova about that lens. Well that and being 2.8 instead of 1.4

Yes, good point ... lower half of the focusing window is blocked and I concur that the difficulties occur *only* in close subjects.

Default AW: Focusing 21mm ZM Biogon on M8

Simple solution: I bought the 28 mm Biogon hood.

That's another nice solution. Thanks. The only downside is less coverage for lateral light hitting the lens but I can live with that.
