I've found mine good fun and very convenient to carry in a pocket.
You do have to be aware of its limitations but it can take a pleasing photograph in surprisingly demanding situations. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/peo...t=Moulin+Rouge That above is one of mine on 'The One Challenge' visit to Paris but there are lots to see around the forum - there are some particularly able shots posted using the camera in Blck and White Everyone I know who has one seems to like the camera - haven't heard any news of a replacement just yet but the production run for cameras of this type is very short and they sell out quickly.

I have no idea if it is discontinued or not, but three weeks ago I saw one in the display case at J&R in NYC. I had the Panasonic version -- the FX01 --(the SCUBA housing leaked and killed the camera) and within its limitations I loved it. You can see a bunch of its photos on our site on the 3rd and 4th pages of New York photos. The second half of page 3 and all but two or three on page 4. |

Panasonic already replaced the FX01 with the FX07 which are both the same as the CLUX 1. There is also a FX50 which is the same form factor with a 3 inch screen. Stuart I was wondering how you made out with the scuba housing. This is terrible news. I was going to suggest the housing to a friend whom I got to purchase a FX01. Not to hijack a thread but could you give a little bit about what failed with the housing or point me to were you might have said so already. TIA |

Joseph,
get one if you can. The C-Lux 1 is an excellent little camera which can be carried always and is capable of some very good results. Look for C-Lux in the Tags on this forum for some sample shots. |

I still don't know why the enclosure flooded at about 6 meters on its fifth dive. When I returned to the surface I could find no sign of a leak in the 1/2 meter camera dip tank. MAYBE a hair lodged itself in the seal, but with 13 years of underwater photography this is my first incident, so maybe not. I've been pestering Panasonic US for help on this, and was promised a supervisor's call back over 200 hours ago, and have been leaving messages since. |

Its still listed on Leica's site as a current product. That said Panasonic makes these in the number Leica orders, when that production run is completed it will be made no more. The production line is retooled top make the next model of whatever. So there is a finite number available to the market once they are sold it is discontinued. Development of these compacts happen at such a pace that it dosen't make buisness sence to restart production of an older model - "...a new one will be out shortly".
I gave my wife a black one in October - nice little camera within its limitations. Great handeling for such a small unit and gorgeous to look at. - Carl |

Carl, I nearly bought the equivalent Panasonic model a couple of weeks ago, but the lack or RAW was a killer I'm afraid. In the end I bought the larger LX2. Nice looking camera though.

I remember it well Carl, I'm glad to hear she's pleased with it. As I said earlier, it's a very attractive small camera.

Thanks Stuart.
It looks like you had some success on the four previous dives before it succumbed to the sea. The Nemo shot looks pretty good. The housing seems to have alot of dials to control the camera. More than enough for one to fail possibly. I hope Panasonic comes thru for you. |
