I am just wondering if anybody knows when the next batch of M8 will be distributed in the USA. The last batch I heard about was the one just before Christmas.
I am still awaiting the delivery of my M8. Robert |

Robert,
I received a new silver M8 from B&H last Saturday. I ordered on Friday morning and had it shipped overnight. They were out of stock later that morning (I ordered around 4:30 am using the web). I'm still looking for filters. Found one extra battery. Hope yours comes in soon. Bill |

My dealer heard from his rep a couple of days ago - my M8 is in "the next batch" supposed to hit "here" (which could mean either NJ HQ or New England, he is the New England rep) on the 12th, expected to be at my dealer a "few days after that"

Bill:
I think yours was from the Pre Christmas Batch. Leica shipped out a bunch of M8 on the Thursday before Christmas. Some of the dealers were surprised to get some cameras on the Friday just before Christmas. Leica in Both Slms and NJ were closed from December 23rd until the New Year, so the B+H cameras must have been from the shipments that went out on December 22-23. Steve: I was hoping there would be something earlier. I was told the third week in January, which makes sense if they are just arriving on the Friday of the week before. |

Okay here is how it works in the US no secrets here but from what i know. A huge container like a rail car hits Customs in NJ on Monday and clears customs on Tuesday, Than it gets to Leica NJ on Wednesday and they start unpacking it, this is a major job of unloading and organizing shipping to there dealears . Leica uses UPS second day air. By thursday and friday the orders go to the dealers across the country. now a smart man says if you want one quickly starting watching the B&H website on Sunday and most likely Monday will be the day unless they hit saturday which B&H is closed. Now put that time frame in your part of the country and there you have it.

You are right. Mine had to be from the pre-Christmas batch. It came installed with 1.09 and had the brochure about registering for the two free IR filters, so I assume it is the latest batch. Bill |

Sorry to jump in on your thread but over here in the UK we are still looking for a delivery worth talking about.
It really is quite depressing reading about people having 2 cameras and all the problems they are finding when using them . This is not to sound to down but we have probably only had 30 cameras in total delivered to the UK ,which is the same as what one US store Popflash has had in total so far.. My local Leica premier dealer has only had 4 cameras 1 black and 3 silver, and I'm 3rd on his list for a black M8. Lets hope that things improve for all of us in the coming weeks/months, Cheers Matthew. |

Matthew:
Is Leica UK an independant distributor or a wholly owned subsidury of Leica, such as Leica USA? It may be that in some of the countries with independant distributors, the distributors did not make an initial committment for enough cameras. |

Rob,
I think Leica UK is a subsidury like Leica US .From what I have been told by my dealer Leica UK gets a delivery ,like in the US ,and it is then divided up to the premier dealers. Its just being a smaller country we are getting very small deliveries. Anyone reading this and living in the UK ,I would say email another dealer maybe in the US ,and try a list over there as our dealer lists are probably longer than what Leica can supply for this year, Cheers Matthew. |

Try the Montreal Leica dealer. He had all the sizes but 46mm. This was from a fresh batch that arrived in Canada from B+W in December. Leica Boutique - Best choice for leica products in Canada |
