I'm sure they will, but since they can't keep up with demand at the moment I wouldn't expect to see the option in the near future.

OH No! With Hermes out of the picture, let's hope the a la carte just dies.

I will pre-order one instantly if I can customize (make it an inter-changeable one) the IR cut filter!
Let us have a sign-up campaign! Solms would oblige if 1,000 signatures are there, right? That number is close to all the M8s sold thusfar! |

I'm sure that getting Hermes out of the pictures was a good thing, but it seems to me that anything which is profitable (assuming it is) is good for all of us. Incidentally, your profile still says 'M8 on order' Best Wishes |

I would take one with an old-style winding lever, an ISO dial where the film rewind knob used to be, and no Leica red dot (or black). I might also change the covering material to leather.

A la carte? You mean like calves hides softened by extended rubbing on the delicious thighs of yodelling alpine maidens? Good grief.
OK then; whilst I can see that some might enjoy a little chamber to take strips of light sensitive material in a can I think the M8 has nodded too detrimentally in the legacy direction. But there are some additions I could be tempted to buy into; amongst other things I would like an ergonomic shape with an angled shutter release at the top [again, just like modern cameras of recent years], a thumb-wheel shutter speed control [like modern cameras], a flash socket [like ancient and modern cameras] and as an option to the direct viewfinder a clutter free, bright zoom finder covering a moderately reasonable range of focal lengths for the M format. Oh yes, and a roll of black tape peel off patches to cover up the M8 and red dot signatures beloved of watchful street scallies. With regard to the last point; I concede to being somewhat 'old school'. My name is Chris,..............and I'm a heretic. I'll be OK. I'm about to take my medication. You are indeed a heritic Chris :-). Buy a softie and you can take a shot with the lightest of pressure from the last knuckle of your index finger. Not only that but you can use the edge of the same finger to channge the shutter speed :-)

If they'd provide these option then I may give it a shot:
1. a 0.85 finder ... with 35, 50 and 90 framelines ... 100 dollars 2. an adequate IR cut filter in front of the sensor ... i'd pay 500 dollars 3. a detachable AA filter ... 50 dollars 4. user selectable 16-bit/8-bit DNG ... 50 dollars 5. an accessory color meter ... 200 dollars |
