Maybe they don't want the old bayonet rings floating around in the second hand market, who nows? I agree it's a simple job, the only complexity it the Tri-Elmar which has a small spring to attach.

all via FEDEX.

Nothing ever broken, lost

Shipped backs worth $30,000 and insured same - without nonsense of inspection (but paid for it. Clerck just asked what it was)

It is called FEDEX. Synonymous with shipping :-)

(No I don'town stock, just use almost daily in our business)

Now watch, next shipment will look like a pancake! LOL

In my experience, you have been extremely lucky. I won't even touch on the top of on-time delivery issues--there isn't enough room or time to do so. I've had $2,000+ packages literally crushed and destroyed in some kind of sorting device in Portland, OR by FedEx. Then, I insured a computer, shipped it by FedEx, and they dropped it (packed in its original carton). Even though it was very well-insured, they refused to pay. Lucky for me, I had some serious "pull"--that is, the ability to literally threaten them with over $1,000,000 of my employer's business. Even that barely got their attention. My shipping guy told me that our salesperson actually covered the loss out of her own pocket--$782.

If ever there was a great concept poorly executed, FedEx is it. I second the advice above--use USPS Priority Mail, registered. They will watch it like a hawk.

Well told, thank you.

I'm a fan of UPS (and their packing stores) too - though FedEx and Kinko's now pack, too.

Relax.

In the USA, ship Priority Mail with full insurance and Delivery Confirmation. Use Registered Mail only if you want to go slower and spend a lot more treasure.

I sent one 21mm Elmarit in its Leica leather case coast to coast on 29 December and learned online today that it was delivered on 3 January in the morning @ Leica in Allendale, NJ. Cost me just over US$20.00 total. Yes, it was well-packed in a sturdy box with lots of pellets and bubbles.

That's good postal service after three continuous days of no mail in this country due to the holiday and funeral stand-down for our late President.
