Default Modifying M8 jpegs with Canon DPP

A unusual technique for an unusual day...

My M8 arrived this morning, just in time for my oldest friend to receive 'the call' to come in to the hospital and possibly receive the kidney transplant he's awaited for 6 years. At the end of the (very long) day he didn't get the kidney, but we did get to put the M8 through its first paces.

I was just too tired to fight with C1's impenetrable (to me) interface, and in my exhaustion opened the files with Canon DPP. While it only reads the jpegs, DPP allowed a tremendous range of flexibility in opening the shadows and curving the tone to taste in B&W. The files had amazing 'guts'!

And the M8? I'm in love at last....

- N.

All shot at ISO 640 with an older 35mm 'Cron wide-open (1/15th-1/30th)

Nick,

Fantastic and moving series - I identified with the first picture having been in hospital awaiting a major op myself some years ago. I hope your friend makes good progress soon.

My M8 arrived this morning so I'm eagerly awaiting the battery being charged!!

Happy New Year
