As you may have heard in other threads, I ordered a R-D1, which will be here next week.
I have only shot jpeg in the past, but I plan to shoot RAW with the R-D1. What is your favorite Raw converter that is compatible with the R-D1? Adobe Capture Raw, Capture One, Silky Pix, Aperture etc. |

Capture One LE is useless for me, due to the reduced set of image manipulation options. Adobe Camera RAW is a well featured converter, but RAW Developer extracts much more detail from the files (without sharpening). Aperture is OK, but it is mostly a cataloguing software. |

Raw Developer from Irident Digital is overall great with the R-D1, but as far as colors and contrast IMO nothing beats the original Epson Photolier, just looking at the previews will put a big smile on your face...
![]() Really, I've never been able to get such stunning colors with any other converter, from any other digital camera. |

Phillip,
Congrats on yur new toy(s). Too bad about the stolen ones, but an M6 and an RD-1, not bad! Anyway, if you're on a Windows box try the free RawShooter Essentials from this link:pixmantec They were aquired by Adobe this summer and the guys behind it now work on Lightroom. RSE is still available for download and supports the RD-1. It's bigger brother Rawsotter Pro has been my favourite raw converter for the D2 for a year now. - Carl |

It depends on which computer you are using. Iridient Raw Developer is my favorite of all the raw converters (and I have truly tried them all) but it runs only on the Macintosh. If you are a Windows user if it were me I would download the new Photoshop CS3 beta and use ACR 4.0 in it. Most if not all of the features that were in Raw Shooter Pro have been incorporated in to the new ACR 4 and it does a much better job than the ACR from Photoshop CS2. The raw converter in Lightroom beta is similar but not as powerful as ACR 4.
Have fun woody spedden |
