Default Is this how a Digilux 2 sensor failure begins?

I just went outside to take some late afternoon shots with the D2 and I am getting a pink cast on everything. Is this what happens as the sensor starts to fail?

Thanks,
terry

Don't know, but this is certainly ugly.

I imagine sensors can fail in a number of ways. Some just seem to turn into something that looks like striped jelly.

But Leica has said they will repair such cameras at n/c, so if it doesn't get better, you'd better declare it failed and send it in.

Good luck! Maybe someone else has seen this before. Camera hadn't been lying in the sun, had it? Might be just a heat-related thing, but I doubt it.

Thanks,
I had heard the jelly comment as well and this isn't as bad. I will call Leica and email these shots to them. I had saved their notice about the extended warranty and I am the only owner of the camera so it should go smoothly. Rather have it replaced now while I know it is "top of mind" than a couple of years from now.

Mine went in a very similar way. One day it just started to show very pale and off colour images after exposure. It is now in Solms.

Thanks,
I spoke to Leica today. The camera will be headed to Solms shortly.

Just to add another one to the list...

My Digilux 2 developed the melted picture from the image sensor this week...

I will be contacting Leica this week to hopefully get it repaired free of charge...

I found this thread purely by accident otherwise I was about to shell out for a new camera and it probably would not have been a Leica...

Assuming it is repaired gratis it would restore my faith in the Leica brand...
