Dear LEICA M8 Customer,



In our haste to respond as quickly as possible to LEICA M8 owners regarding our CEO's lens offer, we might have mistakenly sent an incorrect version of the price list to some customers.



1. We prepared two versions of the price list - one for countries that implemented a Value-Added Tax such as the EU and Canada, and one for countries that do not have a Value-Added Tax structure.

2. Also the price of the LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 mm f/1 was wrong in both price lists.

3. The prices both price lists represent the complete price that the M8 owner pays to Leica - that means all applicable customs duties, VAT (where applicable) as well as shipping and customs clearing costs.



In the very near future, you will receive the correct price list for the country you live in, and the prices will reflect a price approximately 30% lower than the average Suggested Retail Price of these Leica products worldwide.

We again apologize.

and by the way, you'd think they'd be able to send the revised list as an attachment to the email rather than having to make us wait for another letter from solms. not impressed with their handling of all this.

John, it seems obvious to me that they've issued the letter to clarify how the prices are going to be calculated and end some of the misinformation that's been floating around over the last few days.

Glad they are updating this . makes it easier to understand for different countries. Now what country do I rob the bank from to be able to buy yet another lens is the real question

Which is equivalent to an undiscounted price of €3495, which looks to be the new price from 1/1/2007 and the price on the original list was this 100% price, not the 30% off price.

I received the email as well - twice. However, there was no price list. You indicate you received a price for the Noctilux. Could you please publish the list if you received one?

If they want to check their arithmetic this time, it's fine with me. But I did take the precaution of emailing back a request for an electronic copy of the US price list.

I did not get a list, but the Noctilux was mentioned in the email:

"Sehr geehrte LEICA M8-Kunden,

I suspect the reason they will send the new list by post is a security issue.
If it was attached as a PDF it would possibily find it's way into the wrong hands and false claims for 30% off.
They will post it (1 copy per M8 user) to your registered address..... well thats my reasoning

Incredible! As soon as it appears impossible for Leica to bungle this whole M8 thing anymore - they do it again.

The fact that they keep complicating matters suggests to me one of two things; 1) they are being dishonest about the issues at hand, or 2) they are incredibly bad managers. Either way they should be removed from their posts.

I enjoy Leica products, from binoculars to the M8 but their behavior these past few months is inexcusable.

I registered my camera by sending the warranty cards to NJ, I registered on the web site - from which I received a reply confirmation email, today I have received the "30% pricing error email." I have had my camera since November 7th. I have not received any notice from Leica about picking up the camera for the hardware repair, I have not received a letter from the CEO. Am I alone in this, or are there others out there in a similar situation? I guess I will call NY after New Years. Just curious. Thanks

Welcome to the club John. I have two M-8s for hardware repair as upposed to upgrade, but no worde re pick-up yet.

I got the letter also - but earlier to day I already ordered the 75/1.4! Leica is, of course, welcome to lower the price, although the price at which I ordered the lens, 2307 €, still means a discount of 893 €. I bought the Noctilux with the M8, so the lower price on that lens does not concern me.

John, you are not alone. I got my M8 on November 10, registered and got an immediate ack of the filter order on December 6.

No other word since - except todays e-mail from M8 support saying that the mailed out list was incorrect and a new letter is coming.

I am patient.
