Default V-lux 1; Help with sensitivity settings.

The brochure for the Leica V-lux 1 list the range for the sensitivity of ISO 80 thru ISO 3200, but the camera actually only list ISO 100 thru 1600. Are the 80 and 3200 only available in auto mode, or am I missing something?

Dear Ted,

I believe Vlux 1 brochure is NOT correct.

It does NOT start from ISO/ASA 80.

I have exact same copy of Vlux 1 in Panny fz50.

Cheers

Tommy

Ted
Check out the "High Sens" page 70 .. V-Lux1 manual.
There's some information on iso3200 settings in scene mode ..
Hope this helps..

Regards
Noel

turn the dial to "SCN," then scroll through the menu to "HIGH SENS." & hit OK. The nice thing is that when you switch to "PLAY" or other settings, then back to SCN, the the menu stays put. with a little practice you can switch back and forth pretty quickly.

the down side is the images at 3200 (HIGH SENS.) are pretty crappy, and you cannot shoot raw files. the noise-smoothng software is very heavy-handed.

I purchased one about three weeks ago & used it in mexico to cover the virgin of guadalupe festivals, much of which was at night.

i'm sending it back this weekend. see my journal about the camera here:

there are some photos in the gallery to check out. they took some extensive photoshopping to get them to look this good. the images don't hold together for decent-sized prints. i think you can click & drag some into photoshop & open the metedata to see how the camera was set. (for some reason, shutter speeds don't show up unless you look at them in Bridge.)
