Less there than I had expected. I'd already registered my camera via postcard with Leica USA (though I was happy enough to do it again, and to sign up for the filters.) But where is the information about repairs? That's the most crucial thing.

Frage Re: Leica M8 Registration

I am still wondering what the purpose of registering before Dec. 31st provided you have paid your M8 in full by that date serves. Besides bettering Leica's cash flow, that is? Is there some kind of hidden promise behind that? Here is the deal: I have ordered my M8 a month ago or so. I am awaiting delivery around Dec. 15 th. If all goes well, that is. Who knows what's gonna happen now that all shipments to dealers have been halted and then resumed on Nov. 27th. Let's say all does not go well, and I receive my camera only, say, Jan. 10th. Obviously, I will not have registered and paid in full by Dec. 31st. What will I be denied others will have been entitled to, when I can't be held responsible for not registering?

Why is it that I still feel distrustful? Anybody can enlighten me? Or, Leica, are you listening?

Thanks.

I assume when you get yours, you click the upper button and register.

I also assume pre-registration has been allowed to reduce the delay between getting the camera and getting the filters.

Pure conjecture, but worth checking up on?

Has anyone had a problem when trying to register? I entered all of the required information and checked the box at the bottom of the page. When I click on the link to order the filters my computer loops back to the data entry page. This is what usually happens if you fail to complete a necessary section of a form but I have confirmed that all of the information required has been entered. I have tried several times unsuccessfully.

My dealer told me that I would be entitled to a 1/3 off (up to some limit) voucher towards a lens ordered directly from Leica.

Why won't Leica make the lens voucher official on their website? Sounds like hogwash to me!

Unglücklich Re: Leica M8 Registration

I am confused:

this is what was in the November 24 announcement:

"Leica Camera AG offers EVERY LEICA M8 customer a basic kit of two UV/IR filters with diameters of her/his choice and free of charge. Delivery will commence as of early February 2007. In order to receive the two free IR/UV filters, please register yourself as of December 6th, 2006, including your name and address as well as the camera's serial number. After your registration you can order two filters of choice which will be delivered to your address. Additional filters will be available from your Leica dealer."

Now are the free 2 filters for everybody who will buy a M8 or for the first buyers only ?

Default Leica M8 terms and conditions

My dealer (in the US) fowarded to me the Leica USA dealer letter. Purchase of an M8 (no time limit stated) qualifies you for two filters. Additional filters can be purchased from Leica starting Feb 2007. Payment in full before Dec 31 entitles you to 30% off on a Leica lens purchased directly from Leica. So it's not on the website, but is available in writing from your dealer. That's good enough for me.

This thought just started to come into my mind too...

I already filled the form and ordered two filters.
Now I have someone else knowing my M8 serial number and my address. Hope there won't be problems at this point.

I filled the form but no mention of returning the M8 to fix the banding problem. This was however what was announced in the CEO's letter. Can we expect them to contact us ?

Marco,

Are you able to suggest another way they could get the filters delivered to you?

Oh yes, they will contact you personally and ask for your exact needs and wishes which they will honor instantaneously.

Ok I'm sick of this runaround BS. This registration made no mention of the "rare" problems I have with my camera in 85% of my shots. I'm sick of them denying the prevelance of these issues, and I want to speak to an actual human. Who should I call in NJ? anyone have a preferred contact, or someone who they trust there that I could speak to about getting my camera fixed.

I'm just sick of this, and made even sicker by the fact that they aren't dealing with this like I would expect a company of their breed too.

Johan, come on now...that's not nice.

Anyway....

I'll post this as a sticky for a few days so people can see it.

Thanks.

Mike, talk to your dealer. If you don't get satisfaction, you can ask to speak to the regional sales rep for Leica, and on up the chain to New Jersey.

Thanks.

Allan
