According to my dealer in Bonn, Germany, you are eligible for a one-time discount on a newly purchased lens if:
You purchase and pay the M8 before Dec 31st 2006 but don't receive it until 2007. In this case one lens will be discounted 30% up to a max sum of 1,000 €. No idea if this is true for Germany only. Start saving Bernd |

Too bad i can't use that with another M8. So if i buy another right now new with the issues i get another 30 percent off. So that would be 2 lenses with 30 percent off. Like I need to more lenses

this is just like the CASH BACK PROMOTIONS offered by canon or nikon,
with the difference that you get a canon or nikon to work with and a LEICA with a lot of errors. ![]() |

Erm, presumably he forgot to mention the people who have already bought and received, and who had to send them back. For this case, my dealer (also Germany) offered me the deal.

This is consistent with the "draft letter to dealers" in post #6 of the long sticky thread above. Pay by Dec 31 is the critical step. The key thing is that the Leica company see a solid revenue stream to keep its investors from feeling nervous about all they have put in. I can live with that, even though it doesn't show particular sensitivity to the headaches of the 1500 earliest adopters, who took cameras that need to be sent back. And it might well get me to buy a lens I would otherwise have not considered.

the actual wording is that any buyer who has an M8 purchased and received OR that has paid a 100% deposit by dec 31st , '06 is eligible for the 30% (max $1,200) discount applied toward a new Leica lens.

I have a D70 that died a BGLOD. Initially, Nikon did not acknowledge that was a flaw with that camera. Cost me >175 Euros to get it fixed by Nikon. If I had waited for another six months, they would have fixed it for free. Many online forums were even banning anything about BGLOD ( the owners were shareholders?).
They scammed me and many others as well. That is a fact. Customer friendly? Welcome to the new millennium! ![]() |

I guess a question begged in all of this is what price point Leica will use to discount from? They are keeping the dealers out of this, as mine (Newtonville Camera) says, that's too bad but he understands Leica's point of view. One hopes and expects that the net result is 30% less (up to $1000) than it would cost at one's dealer, or more. best....Peter

The 30% discount is off list price, from the Leica Price Guideline. Since you are buying directly from Leica, this makes total sense. I realise that this means you won't save as much money as you would like to, but that's just life. It is not Leica's business to keep track of the lowest prices of their resellers.

I figure if the Nocti is 3900 US list than 1200 brings that to 2700 new. Place the order

I'm told that the information provided is this: "As a personal gesture, the CEO of Leica Camera AG will compensate every eligible customer in the form of a voucher worth 30% off the suggested retail price in their respective country ($1200 maximum) towards the purchase of a new Leica lens." and "The handling and delivery of these lenses will be organized directly by Leica Camera AG." |

Makes sense. Seems to me the suggested retail price is the price I see listed at any dealers I've used. And Guy, I agree about the Noctilux at $2700, only problem for me is I bought a near mint used one already for...$2700! Oh well. I suspect I'll get a 75 or maybe a 90 with the discount. best....Peter
