Hi all,

I've sent my main D2 to camera leather.com and while it is gone, I decided to use my spare D2. For my surprise, the pics out of the camera presents very soft corners in the left side of the frame. I wonder if anyone hear has faced it before. If so, is there something I can do to fix it or should I send it back to Leica?

here are some examples:

Was the sensor replaced earlier? If so, the issue may be related to sensor micro-adjustment shims. When my LC1 was serviced, they misplaced 2 of those 3 sensor shims. I had to dig the camera, find them loose in remote corners, and put back to achieve infinity focus.

Check out my photo set of dissassembly here:

Good luck,

Thanks Koray!

I bought this camera second hand so I don't know if the sensor has been replaced or not. However, the camera's serial number is 3XXXXX which is known for not having the faulty sensor. Or so they say...

Your pictures seem to be pretty detailed. How can I check if the shims are misplaced? could you point where they are located in your disassembly pictures? That would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

They are between the sensor plate (rectangular aluminium piece) and the plastic lens body, under three torx-3 screw holes. See the photo below (shims are hidden below the plate):

To get there you will have to remove the rear cover and the main pcb. You need torx-3 screwdriver for the sensor unit.

I need to annotate the photos, which I will do at a less-crazy time of my life :-)

Good luck,

K

Thanks Koray!
