[quote=doctorlol;440059]I have given up the wait for R10 or whatever it wil be called. Gone for Nikon.
I did that when waiting for the DMR, went for Canon. Worst photographic decision I ever made financially speaking |

Nikon D3 meets and beats all my expectations. But I do miss the red dot. However, if the price is as high as we all expect, then perhaps the R10 will be too late and a white elephant. I am sure some of my dear colleagues will purchase it, and I hope that the wait will be worth it.
Happy snapping New Year to you all |

Yes, I agree that it would not be logical. But actually how many cameras can outperform the DMR for sheer Image Quality even this first day of 2008? Canon 1Ds Mk 2? Nikon D3? M8? Olympus E3? Sony? Pentax? Hasselblad? Mamiya? Only a handful if you are optimistic. Compromises there are plenty, to get that data sheet that says 200 fps or IS improves 500 steps or something.
It is just my hope and rant that AF, IS etc don't spoil the R10. I'm waiting so long for it. I'll actually wait even if there is a delay of some months after the Photokina just to get it right like the D1, D2, DMR, M8 and other digital Leicas |

Please, can we keep S2/R10 discussions to the thread in this section? Keeping this all together is much easier for everyone.
Thanks http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...ost-all-4.html

OK, according to Herr Kaufmann (reported by our webmaster Andreas) the S2 and the R10 are different beasts: A LEICA R10 is in development!
I really hope that a mock-up of the R10 will at least be shown at the Kina. P.-S.: I hope you don't mind Andy, but I think it's not relevant to mix discussions over two different cameras - plus, one is on the verge to be sold while the other is presumably still under heavy development, which means heavy speculation. |

Thought not a lot of info on the R10, I think we have something to go by:
Is it coming? - YES Fullframe? - YES (as a minimum) AF lenses? - YES (and fast) Fast buffer? - YES (same Maestro image processing system as in the S2) Take manual R lenses? - YES, that too. Leica simplicty? YES (just look at the lack of buttons on the S2) From that we can guess: It's going to be 24 MP or more (based on the 37,5 MP in the S2, reduced to size 24x36 would be 24MP) Coming into existence summer 2009 or later Same Kodak sensor, hence quality, as the DMR Not a heavy camera Probably less noisy than Nikon and Canon Will be shaped after the highly popular R9 body, but much smaller And one more thing. M9. They are working on that, too. |

The longer I wait for a R10 the more I explore that Nikon offers some very fine lenses as well.
On the other side a ff R10 + the 19/2.8 and 28-90 would be a very usefull set for my taste. I really wonder if the S2-as good idea as it is-will sell in such volumes that it makes sense for Leica. a 22MP full frame R10 with thin AA filter and 16bit-files would have been my prefered choice vs the S2. Anyways, I am interested to see the output compared to the medium format solutions. |

We've already seen the first spin off into M lenses. Perhaps this will just roll and roll. Rolo

Hopefully, the same thing you've always done with them. Use them. A little heavy for jewelry.

And finally, I think there's a hope - small though - that an R-S adapter will emerge. But only if it's easy and logical to do, because frankly I don't see much relation for S users to go around and collect manual focus R lenses. Except that, say an 80mm f/1.4 could produce some interesting effects attached to an S body. But probably wouldn't be a preferred lens for such a system. |

Nikon is addressing the 50mm issue with a new lens to come in December. But, aside from preferring the Nikon body design philosophy, what's the allure? Rhetorical question, really, as i still have mixed feelings. Waiting for something to make up my mind for me. |
