This morning I went to the new Silverprint shop in London to get some B&W paper developer .

While looking round I came across Ilford Warmtone paper and chemicals , which I had not noticed before . Has anyone used it ? What is it lie ? Any good for particular subjects ?

Normally I use the Multigrade IV in gloss or pearl .

Any views or opinions ?:)

Thanks.

...being primarily an MGIV type like you, Hugh 38, I have little real-world experience with Warmtone paper and/or chemicals. I did however chance across this thread on another forum:

Not entirely sure of the protocol re: the citing of threads from other fora on the LUF, but that notwithstanding, I hope you find the posts instructive.

I love warmtone prints. Back in the day I used to always use either Kodak Bromesko or, my favourite, Agfa Record-Rapid. Ilford Warmtone is a reasonable substitute for those long gone great papers. The images have a warm sepia-ish tone when

processed in warm-tone developer and can be used for all subjects. Since you are used to Multigrade IV why not give Warmtone a try.

I recently found an unopened box of Record-Rapid on the bay and can't wait to try it even though its years out of date. Just need some decent pictures. :)
