Default Skylight Filter

I bought skylight filters for my 35mm and 50mm lens for use on my M7.

I realised that the skylight filters say 1.1x whereas protective UV filters usually say 1x. Did I buy the wrong filters?

Does this mean that my 35mm is now 38.5mm and my 50mm is now 55mm? Does that mean my framelines are no longer accurate?

How about focusing, will this throw the focusing off if there's a 1.1x magnifying effect?

Thanks in advance for the comments and advice.

Welcome,

The filter has no 'magnifying' effect. The 1.1X refers to the effect on exposure, as the Skylight filter is essentially a colour correction filter for shooting under harsh daylight conditions - it has a warmish tone to it. A UV filter is clear.

In use 1.1X factor is going to have hardly any noticeable effect and TTL metering on the M7 will allow for it anyway. Its just whether or not you want all your colour photos to have a slightly warm cast to them - it won't matter on B&W film.

Omigawsh! I'm so embarrassed!! Haha!! Didn't realise that the 1.1x referred to the exposure value...

Thanks so much for the info! Much appreciated...
