Finally, I got my 35 cron IV back from Solms.

The purpose was coding.

It looks brand new.

The bad news is that I had to give back the 35 asph that the shop lent me meanwhile. (I kept it around six weeks!).

I will see if this lens is really "the king of the Bo-Ke as it is said in the books.

Surely will post pics soon.

All the best

A great lens on the M8. I have mine hand coded and hasn't rubbed off so I haven't bothered with sending it in. Don't forget the great bokeh is at f4-5.6 or above (not wide open), very smooth especially if the background is fairly uniform in lighting.

Thanks to both of you for taking time to give comments.

I am very happy also with the much smaller size of the v4 vs the asph one.

I think that it is going to be my lens cap for a while.

Long time ago I had a M6 and a one and only cron 50 and my best pictures (mostly my kids and family portraits) belong to this period so I am a happy man with my M8 and this 35.

I bought since the 21 CV and an ELmarit 90 wich is also a great lens.

All the best,

Jean-Luc

The IV has that 'Mandler Look'. Very sharp, good contrast, but there is a touch of glow. Silky smooth tonality. It delivers a slightly more classic look, than the newer design, which is so perfect. The ASPH has almost no distortion and is sharper at f2 / f2.8, but after that it's a close call. Also the transition out of the circle of confusion (sharp to out of focus) is more abrupt with the ASPH.
