dav Posted October 26, 2006 Share #1 Â Posted October 26, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm curious as to you thoughts about the zoom, and any technique tips you might offer. Having experience with the zoom, would you now buy the 40mm or stay with the zoom? Â Thx.

troyfreund Posted October 26, 2006 Share #2 Â Posted October 26, 2006 I've got the Minilux Zoom and have been real pleased with it. Highly suggest it. Troy
kcchuan Posted October 26, 2006 Share #3  Posted October 26, 2006 I have a CM with 40mm. You've probably read about its lens, contrast, build and bokeh, it is also very robust, solid feel. It is possible to handhold down to 1/15s with this camera. The eyepiece is surrounded by a large rubber which can act as an eyecup for extra stability. This works particularly well if you wear glasses. It is also very silent.  Cheers  Alvin
bobtodrick Posted October 26, 2006 Share #4 Â Posted October 26, 2006 I recently traded my Minilux zoom for the CM with the fixed lens. I found that although the zoom was handy (and very sharp I might add), at 70mm it's maximum aperture is F6.5...just too slow for low light work. If 6.5 isn't too slow for the kind of photographs you take, I'd probably opt for the CM zoom...but if low light shooting is part of what you want to do...the CM with the 40mm is superb for a 'point & shoot' compact. albertwang Posted October 26, 2006 Share #5 Â Posted October 26, 2006 I guess that Tmax 3200 didn't help with the lowest end of the zoom...
bobtodrick Posted October 26, 2006 Share #6 Â Posted October 26, 2006 not when you want the creamy smoothness of TriX or APX400.
