16mm fisheye lens on R8

Wondering if anyone can help me with this. Will the 16mm fisheye lens work on the R8?
And is it ROMmable ?

I think ROM-contacts can be fitted. Will look it up in my OSTERLOH- LEICA-R-book when I come home. If it is not listed I will come back here, promised.

Took some sample photos with my R9 recently, with this lens. My dealer had it as a 2nd, or maybe 3rd-hand opportunity. When I came back to the shop to see it again and negociate further, it was gone. Thx god, so I didn´t have to buy it.

Photos came out phantastic ! Not an everyday lens, but once in a while: great fun indeed.

Wanted to take AYER´S ROCK with it one day, now I can´t ....

Yes, for sure: ROM-contacts could be fitted, but it is NOT necessary in case you want to use the lens with the R8.Even with a DMR the normal R-lensconnection should work fine.

Lenses with a number above 2816 850 (from 1976 on) had these contacts. Lenses before that are good for the LEICAFLEX only.

I am using the Fisheye-Elmarit-R 16/2.8 with ROM on my R8 and R9 cameras, and it works well ! Indeed, no ROM contacts are needed.

The 16mm fisheye is pretty cheap at the moment. I have seen them go for GBP 450-500. Much cheaper than the 19 or 15, although you have to put up with the converging verticals.

I think what you mean is that the 3rd cam was installed from 1976 (R3) on. There were no ROM contacts until the R8. The 16mm lenses before the 3rd cam are good for the Leicaflex SL2 only, not the Leicaflex Standard or SL because of mirror clearance problems.
