The Summicron i refer to (with tab) is from the eightees. Modern lenses like the Summilux asph or the current Elmar are indeed more contrasty. Possibly also the current Summicron but i don't own one.

I have a current 50 Summicron. The relatively high contrast is one of the qualities that drew me to it.

No problem with film generally but the dynamic range of digital cameras is often too short to capture shadow detail and highlight detail at the same time when lenses are very contrasty. This is one of the reasons why i tend to prefer Leica lenses from the eightees or seventies personally. FWIW.
