hello,
sorry, here is a question again...yes, I got the lens (35/f2 asph)...and ready to shoot...1st leica experienced ever (except digilux 2)...so, I went out, shoot couple...and the way I shoot is looking through the the window and compose, take a photos now... *I do know how the rangefinder works since I have the hasselblad xpan II...and used often and a while... but, I am wondering if there is any way you shoot differently, I might remember wrong that I saw the post or aticle somewhere that you don't really look through the window, like pre-focused, or something like that??? when shooting on the street, or unexcpeted moment, etc.... does that mean that you measure the distance, set the right distance...but, it still need to look through the window though to see the right exposure, doesn't it??? or is there any general setting for this way of shooting??? can someone share some idea on how they shoot...or the leica experience??? thank ![]() |

Hyperfocal shooting... fairly simple...
set lens aperture at f8 or f16 (wide angles only)... set focusing distance so that infinity (sideways 8) hits the depth of field marker at 16 or 22 (dependent on lens) bang away... everything in focus from distance at other depth of field market to infinity! |

When you have time to focus, definitely focus that lens. If you have loads of light outdoors, you can experiment with f5.6 (best image quality) or f8 in an emergency, (some defraction) with hyperfocal settings.
Learn to focus and use that lens at f2.8 whenever you can to experience a shallow depth of field. Leica lenses were designed to be used wide open with excellent image quality. You'll see. It's easy to focus quickly and accurately with a bit of practice. You will be rewarded with superior pictorial effects. A Leica is no D2.
