Dear forum members,
My optometrist thinks the time has come for me to make a step 'forward' and get multifocal glasses. Can anyone of you answer my question (concern?) if multifocal glasses affect focusing accuracy when using a rangefinder? Best regards, Norbert |

I wear multifocal glasses for many years and so far no problem with RF. Magniefier for longer lenses 50, 75 mm helps me much.

Somewhere along the top-down axis of your multifocal glasses there is a level where you can see objects at a distance of two meters (6.5 ft) sharply. This is the virtual distance of the finder frames and the rangefinder patch. You will very soon learn instinctively how to hold your head and the camera relative to each other. This beats dioptric lenses because you retain full eyesight and observation to the front—vital for action photography. Trust me, I've tried everything!

Interesting thread thank you for posting Norbert. I have worn Variofocals for 10 years and I have no problems focusing my M6. But interestingly, I have just moved onto a rangefinder camera after using SLR's for years and, yes. focusing with Variofocals did pose a problem with SLR focusing. So that's why it seems so much easier to focus with my M6, I hadn't realised.
