D-LUX 2 Repair Question / Firmware?

I've talked to the repair rep at Leica USA in NJ via e-mail..

I asked him if they could replace a mode dial (scratched) - $75.. that's fine.
and they said they will upgrade firmware.
How is that possible?
I thought there was no such f/w for D-Lux 2. Or is it possible them to upgrade to D-Lux 3 program?

BTW, how long does it usually take?

It would be better if you could include a Mastercard or Visa. I don't know what the return shipping charge is, which will be added. They also need to see the camera to give you an exact cost. If you make a note of the camera's serial # you can contact the Service Dept after you have given them 3-4 days to look it over and get it in the system.
They will add what ever is the lastest firmware for this model.
