Default Leica news letter

Just got the current issue of this and Leica is now linking to this site as there official forum. It also implies that the writer, signer, of this news letter is a member on these forums. It is signed by Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, CEO and that some members of these forums know his screen name.

I don't think this is an 'official' site - though I've always though that Leica severing those links was very shortsighted.

It would appear that Herr Kauffman is indeed a member, though I can't remember his user name.

I believe that his user name may be an anagram of mantis.

What does 'support' actually mean?

Jeff, since there's now a link on the Leica website I assume it means that it's at least officially endorsed by Leica.

Congratulations to Andreas, I'm sure this didn't happen all by itself. I hope Leica are offering some financial support.

If it is, then I would expect my M8 to blow up in my face one day very soon. "Mantis" and I haven't exactly gotten along too well.

You've got it backwards. I'm sure it is Andreas who is paying Andreas.

Or is it an anagram of 27 NRL panties?

I got the newsletter as well and I am happy that there is now a link to the forum again on the site. Also the site has been reverted to something close to its old self, a big improvement over the "over-stylized" and slightly snobbish version launched a few months back.

Well done

Kent

What I like best about this less snobbish site is that if ever I feel the need to buy a Filipino bride, start a lesbian love affair, or buy one of half a dozen phones featuring godzilla ringtones I have to look no furhter than the sidebar adverts. Ahh hang on, now Ive got vietnam cupid dot com across the bottom. Sad mans delight. Ah well I can go to Leicas site for my one and a half love affairs.
I'd say "Jesus Christ" but it would probably upset someone.

We are slowly trying to deal with the google ads issue. Each one that comes along at random needs to be blocked individually, as far as I understand it.

If you see an ad that you consider "inappropriate", such as big breasted lesbian ring-tones, copy the URL and send it in a PM to Admin.

Thanks.

Default AW: Leica news letter

To clear up some issues (OK, not really clearing up...):

- Mr. Kaufmann is forum member for a very long time - but not the one mentioned here

- As it was mentioned in the newsletter: This forum will stay independent, the support by Leica won't be monthly payments but we'll start joint projects. I'll send out a newsletter later today with some fuzzy announcements. Details will follow in the next weeks.

- The financial aspect is interesting for me (to be honest) but the critical point is the public commitment to the L-Camera Forum by Leica.

Best regards from Bonn
Andreas

Andreas, thank you for your transparency. It’s always the best course to sail the straightest line. Although I am relatively new to the forum, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for all that I have been able to absorb and learn from the many learned, insightful and frankly gifted members. I believe you manage to steer a course that continues to keep the independence and integrity of the forum in place while keeping it within the Leica umbrella. As a forum member and one that has made a sizable investment in both the community and Leica equipment, I wonder how the members can add more value to you, the forum and the Leica family. Again, I’m conscious of the myriad of opinions that circulate on the forum, but as with any gathering of persons, it is always the texture of the dialogue, not just the content, that matters. My goal here is to thank you and to find a way that we as members can be helpful to you and therefore also serve our own ends. Continued good luck and all the best. Ben

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement Andreas and having just read your email I feel much better about the Leica company than I did before reading it. Not that I ever had any intentions to "jump ship" but recent events have un-nerved me a bit and this change together with hopefully more to come should restore much needed faith in the company and it's products.

Thanks.

Don't block them yet !

I've spent my M8 money on a Vietnamese chick. Mail Order Annie is on her way, I'm told. Once she's here, I'll be missing from the Forum for while, I suspect.
