How much is worth a M2?

I was interested in knowing how much is worth a M2 from around 1950, it also has a lens from that time.
And in case I would like to sell it, where would be the best place?

Hi joa,

nobody can answer you. Cause nobody knows the condition of the camera, wether the cosmetic nor the functional one. You have not stated the lens and its condition and so on and so on.

But most of the guys in here know that there were no Ms in 1950. The M2 came to the market in 1955 or 56 I think by heart.

The serial number you cite places camera production in around 1961...

It depends frankly on how the market is where you live. If you want to try a dealer (and make it a collectible camera specialist if you go that route) then a starting point, based on UK experience, might be around 60% of the selling prices for the same camera in a similar condition to yours. If he already has quite a few in stock however, that price would go down - or they might even say no. As McKeown's Guide says, any camera is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it.

A commission sale would get you more money, but you'd have to wait for it until a month or so after the camera has sold (and in the present digital-mania climate that could be some time).

Alternatively, look at the finished prices for M2s on "that auction site".
