Nice design overall (though typface kerning's a bit tight...) Good to see that the M8's added some spice to the game of buying and selling leica's. Think how things would have been if they'd not launched it! Despite the hassles some have had very few of us would have been using our lenses to do paid, real work if we didn't have the M8. Good luck to Ivor - and lets hope TCC can keep on selling too. A bit of competition never goes amiss!

I was in Red Dot Cameras today and I can confirm that Ivor definitely is not copying TCC's woeful customer services approach. (Apologies to those who've experienced good cs from TCC but that's just my personal experience.)

I couldn't have been made to feel more welcome as Ivor introduced me to his bubbly wife Elaine and proceeded to chew the fat for an hour or so and explained his plans for the business, why he chose the location and his up-coming photographic competition (sworn to secrecy but the prize looks to be very attractive to any Leica enthusiast).

Red Dot Cameras is a bona fide Leica dealership and has no plans to offer other makes of camera although Ivor did concede that he may decide to stock Voigt lenses in the future to offer a wider selection.

It doesn't appear to be former TCC stock because there was a definite 'don't go there' air when I mentioned TCC and the subject was quickly but deftly changed so I am left to assume that there is little love lost.

BE ADVISED: RDC is intending to open on weekdays but only the first Saturday of every month. Ivor also intends to stay open late one night a week - probably Thursday.

To help locate Red Dot Cameras I've attached a Google Maps link. For some reason the usual blue arrow poining at the target doesn't appear on my screen so Red Dot Cameras is located on the opposite side of Old Street from the little blue arrow pointing up to Mitchell Street. It's at number 68 Old Street.

Google Maps

I have no connection with Red Dot Cameras but I am very keen to see a new Leica dealership in London thrive - especially a frindly one - so come on all those who can make the effort to visit and pick up one of RDC's very impressive business cards!

Pete.

Richard,

I didn't see too many but they have plenty of 50/2.8 LTM lenses and the full range of new Summarits if that helps.

Pete.

Okay, James, I'll play. I see:

1) "Breath" - should be "Breathe"
2) "Manfroto" - should be "Manfrotto"
3) "bases"- should be "basis"

Have I missed any?

Pete.

Hello everyone, this is Ivor at Red Dot Cameras, just to let you know I am now open at MY New shop in Old St (number 68) at the junction of Golden Lane. First of all, apologises for the web site, but we are having teething problems, not least of all the fact that my IT people can't spell, when I mentioned the name Manfrotto, they asked if it was for a MAC or Windows!!!. Re emails, yes they are bouncing back, so if you like to email me at my personal address, it's ivorcooper@hotmail.com.
Please be aware that we are nothing to do anyother camera shop. If there are any spelling or grammer mistakes, I am very sorry but I am dyslexic and long words bother me.
Look forward to seeing you in Old St, so do pop in for a tea or coffee and a chat. Ivor

Hello Ivor,

I will definately pop in for a look soon - hope you don't mind my comments about TCC but many people feel the same way about the service there as you know. Its also good to have some input on the forum from the dealers so do stick around.

Congratulations and best wishes with your new venture.

I'll echo that Ivor. I'll look in next time we are in London! (I'm presuming I'll now be an ex you know where customer, though I fully appreciate that you couldn't possibly comment.)

For the people that don't already know, it's 68 Old Street, London EC1V 9AN, halfway between the Old Street and Barbican tube stations.

I'm wishing Elaine and you, Ivor, all the best in this great new venture, you deserve to do well (after all the crap you've patiently put up with in the last few years!)

I'll add my good wishes - we need good dealers to keep spreading the word! I'll make the effort to get to the shop in the next few days - I'm up in London a few times on business - and I'll look forward to seeing the new setup.

Regards,

Bill
