LUF Admin Posted March 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The change of management at the Leica HQ in Wetzlar has started hot discussions here in the Leica Forum. In order to provide our competence as Leica customers - thus competent market observers and qualified Leica experts - I have a request to you: Your wish or tipp to Mr. Kaltner - one sentence, no long explanations Please do not comment on other suggestions, we're going to move such posts to another thread. And please no fun comments, we already had the request for another Leica gummi bear can So: What tast should the new CEO tackle first?

MarkP Posted March 4, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Please significantly reduce the turnaround time for camera and lens service and repairs. This applies whether through Leica service centres in individual countries or for much of the equipment that has to return to Germany. A typical turnaround of three or more months is totally unacceptable. sorry, three sentences not one! Edited March 4, 2015 by MarkP
Steve Ash Posted March 4, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Before you start screwing up the company become passionate about photography and strengthen the strengths. Edited March 4, 2015 by Steve Ash
Popular Post matlep Posted March 4, 2015 Popular Post Share #4 Posted March 4, 2015 Please, no more Lenny Kravitz special editions. Just keep on making cutting edge photography tools for real photographers (and maybe with a reasonable price tag ). Don't ever loose the Leica soul. Please.
M9reno Posted March 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 4, 2015 Leica's film legacy is one of its most important assets. Keep it alive.

johnbuckley Posted March 4, 2015 Share #9 Posted March 4, 2015 Innovate, certainly, but preserve the essence of M rangefinder photography, as your stewardship of Leica is a sacred trust.
Auchtermuchty Posted March 4, 2015 Share #10 Posted March 4, 2015 First task? Compare what Hasselblad did wrong, to what Fuji did right, and to what everyone has always loved about Leica. Very best of luck Herr Kaltner! Fortune favours the brave, but a wise man looks before he leaps! If you ever need a consultant, my price is a Monochrom and a business-class ticket to Wetzlar!
pgk Posted March 4, 2015 Share #11 Posted March 4, 2015 Innovate with other product lines, but retain the M Series Rangefinder in a very basic and simplistic 'no frills' camera form - it has lasted a long time and will endure far longer if not compromised.
volk65 Posted March 4, 2015 Share #12 Posted March 4, 2015 I'm sure Leica can preserve its luxury status without failing to keeping up with the cutting edge technology and features. Do not recycle old models with trivial cosmetic changes.
tntrue Posted March 4, 2015 Share #13 Posted March 4, 2015 Revive the R mount!
Langrai Posted March 4, 2015 Share #14 Posted March 4, 2015 Do not follow others, lead to new high end. 1. Leica M roll film rangefinder 2. Leica M medium format digital rangefinder 3. Same lenses for both Something that would make all others to hold breath. Raimo Lang, Helsinki
satureyes Posted March 4, 2015 Share #15 Posted March 4, 2015 Use fresh, young talent to show how the M range fits into today's modern photographers workflow. Enlist young photographic 'ambassadors' to fly the Leica flag and promote it's use as not just a tool for the rich.
jonoslack Posted March 4, 2015 Share #16 Posted March 4, 2015 Good luck in your new position. Leica cameras should never have sub standard functionality. If you can't make it state of the art, don't do it at all.

Pangur Ban Posted March 4, 2015 Share #18 Posted March 4, 2015 Make Leica cameras smaller - reverse the growth trend in body size seen from M6 > M7 > M8 > M240 ( a digital CL would be nice)

John B Posted March 4, 2015 Share #20 Posted March 4, 2015 Since Leica failed to produce a DSLR after the R Series please plug the hole and produce a rival to Canon and e.g. Nikon's D810 +lenses which the Leica S Series does not do...
